Members of the Judiciary attended church at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral on Sunday ahead of the opening of the legal year ceremony set to take place on January 8th.

The message at the service was delivered by Catholic Archbishop, the Most Rev.  Patrick C. Pinder.  He said, “the rule of law is essential for order in our society and for our ordinary activities to be possible and even pleasant but there is a sense is which law alone is not enough.  It is been noted that democracy is not a machine that can run by itself, it is not a hardware that can be run by any software, it requires more.  It requires an independent judiciary, to be sure, but just as importantly it requires a vibrant public moral culture.  The vitality of this public moral culture is crucial to any democratic society such as ours.”
