Rodney E. Bain Building Demolition

Bahamian Media News:

The historic Rodney E. Bain Building on Shirley Street is being demolished to make way for the construction of a new judicial complex.

Court Service Council Chief Executive Officer, Mildred Bodie spoke with ZNS from the site. She said, “the building, and you will see from some of the signs that will be going up, will depict what the new infrastructure of the building will look like. It is going to be a beautiful infrastructure into this place. There will be a complete transformation from what it is now to what will be.”

According to Bodie demolition of the building will take six to eight weeks. “Some of the safety precautions that we’ve taken in place is that we’ve put up a fence across the building to ensure that we reduce the amount of traffic into the building. We’ve also had signs erected around the building indicating what is happening and indicated caution for persons into this particular area.”

During construction it is planned that roads will be closed from 6 pm to 6 am when most of the work will be carried out.

A ground breaking ceremony for the new judicial complex is scheduled for March 31st.
