Bahamas Union of Teachers President, Belinda Wilson voiced concern about the condition of schools and ongoing staffing issues ahead of the start of the new school year.

Wilson toured several schools where she was told by contractors that they have not been paid. On Monday she spoke with reporters outside of S. C. McPherson Junior High Scho She said she was told by several contractors that they have not been paid. She also spoke about staffing needs. She said, “we need the new teachers, the teacher’s aides, the guidance counselors, librarians, the attendance officers. We need them in the schools for our over forty plus thousand students that are going to be entering these doors.”
