The Christmas season was made brighter for residents of the Persis Rodgers Home for the Aged and The Bahamas Children’s Emergency Hostel (BCEH) in Nassau thanks to Scotiabank.
Volunteers from Scotiabank visited both facilities during the season to deliver gifts, sing carols and spread cheer, creating joyful moments for the residents. Na-amah Barker, Director, Retail Banking and Small Business at Scotiabank, expressed the team’s enthusiasm for the initiative.
“It was heartwarming to engage with these children and retirees during the festive season and to see their bright smiles as we sang and fellowshipped with them at each location,” she shared.
She further explained that the visit aligns seamlessly with Scotiabank’s culture of volunteerism. “These acts of kindness can have a profound impact not just on the recipients but also on us as givers. They provide a deep sense of fulfillment. At Scotiabank, we encourage our team members to embrace opportunities to give back to their communities, not just during the holidays but throughout the year,” Barker added.
The Bahamas Children’s Emergency Hostel provides a haven for abandoned, neglected, and abused children. The Persis Rodgers Home for the Aged, established in 1973 by nurse and welfare officer Persis H. R. Rodgers, serves as a sanctuary for elderly residents in need of care and support.
