October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Member of Parliament Leslia Brice and Team are painting the constituency of Sea Breeze in honor of the warriors, survivors, those who have passed on, and those who need protection.
On Tuesday, October 1st, the Sea Breeze Branch hosted a meeting dedicated to raising awareness to Breast Cancer, promoting early detection, and supporting those affected by this disease.
Healthcare professionals were on sight with information to provide knowledge and empower Sea Breeze residents to protect themselves from breast cancer.
Scores of Sea Breeze residents attended the event, many of whom have been participating in national exercises to wear pink, especially on Fridays, during the month of October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
In addition to the residents, several dignitaries attended the event including Minister of Foreign Affairs Fred Mitchell, Minister of Works and Family Island Affairs Clay Sweeting, Minister of the Public Service Pia Glover-Rolle, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Jamahl Strachan, and others.
During the event, MP Miller-Brice announced: “On behalf of Team LB and the Sea Breeze Branch, I would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Minister Clay Sweeting for delivering good news to the residents of Sea Breeze.. the repaving of Joe Farrington Rd will go out to tender in two weeks! Thanks to Minister Sweeting, his project managers, and the team at The Water and Sewerage Corporation, the project is well on its way. In addition, approval has been given for the upgrade of the street light at the intersection of Golf Course Blvd and Charles Saunders Highway.”
“A special thank you to Dr. Don Major for his timely and informative presentation on Breast Cancer, the symptoms, the importance of performing self exams, and early detection. I encourage Sea Breeze residents and Bahamians everywhere to get tested. To our breast cancer warriors, keep fighting; you are not alone.”
