The community of Seabreeze marked an exciting milestone on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 with the launch of the SMART Family Initiative—a program designed to empower, uplift, and support the families of Seabreeze. The event, held at Sadie Curtis Primary School featured prominent guest speakers, community leaders, and key stakeholders who gathered to introduce a transformative program that is set to provide invaluable resources and tools for families in the area.
“It is an absolute honor to welcome you to the launch of the SMART Family Initiative, a program designed with one purpose in mind—to empower, uplift, and support the families of Seabreeze,” said Hon. Leslia Brice, MP. She continued, “Family is the cornerstone of our community and the foundation of our nation. Strong families build resilient communities, and resilient communities build a stronger Bahamas. The SMART Family Initiative—Saving Money, Achieving Real Transformation—aims to provide practical tools, resources, and opportunities that will help families not just survive but thrive.”
The SMART Family Initiative focuses on helping families navigate financial challenges by offering practical guidance on budgeting, setting financial goals, and building generational wealth. The launch featured a range of guest speakers, including Nathanial Butler of Drewber Solutions, who shared insights on financial planning, and Sharon Gardiner, Financial Controller, who provided expert advice on building generational wealth. The event also included booths from key partners, including CIBC, BAF, Doctor’s Hospital, presenting their Lamp Program, Fidelity Bank, and Bahama Health, offering attendees access to valuable financial services and health resources.
Hon. Michael Halkitis, Minister of Economic Affairs, also addressed the audience, emphasizing the importance of programs like the SMART Family Initiative in promoting economic resilience and community development. “The SMART Family Initiative is a powerful example of how we can work together to ensure that families have the tools and knowledge they need to thrive.
