Sharon Wilson honoured at the Senate President’s Dinner, Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Conference

Former Senate President, Her Excellency Sharon Wilson, K.C., was honored for her outstanding contribution to The Commonwealth of The Bahamas Senate during the Senate President’s Dinner, September 9, 2025, on the occasion of the 47th Regional Conference  of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, Caribbean, Americas and Atlantic Region.  

The President’s Award was granted by current Senate President, J. LaShell Adderley, who commended Her Excellency Lady Wilson for ‘being a steady and decisive hand while presiding over difficult debates and encouraging unity across party lines’.  She also noted that Lady Wilson remained true to democratic principles and was a valiant defender of parliamentary integrity and excellence.

Lady Wilson was the second female to serve as President of the Upper Chamber and is one of only three Bahamians who have served two terms in this esteemed role. 

Senate President LaShell Adderley states: “During her terms as Senate President (2002 to 2007 and 2012 to 2017), President Wilson was impressive, impartial and indomitable.  She was the consummate professional and the epitome of grace, dignity and honour. 

“Her Excellency Lady Sharon Wilson is a nation builder who led distinguished careers as an educator and Magistrate. She is currently a prominent Counsel and Attorney-at-Law and a member of the Diplomatic Corps of The Bahamas as Non-Resident Ambassador to the United Mexican States. Lady Wilson has a strong passion for making a difference by hosting and leading charitable events.”
