Suspension Of The Temporary Electronic Extension EService

Bahamian Media News:

Further to the Department’s public notice issued on January 31, 2025, regarding the suspension of the Temporary Electronic Extension eService, the Department of Immigration wishes to again advise the public that this service remains discontinued and is not valid for use.

The temporary Electronic Extension eService was introduced during the government-imposed
COVID-19 Emergency Orders to assist visitors who were unable to depart the country due to pandemic-related travel restrictions. Following the conclusion of the Emergency Orders on November 13, 2021, the service was officially suspended in December 2021 as international travel resumed and normal immigration operations were restored.

Despite previous advisories, the Department has observed continued attempts in recent months
to present fraudulent Electronic Extensions to Immigration officials. The public is reminded that
any electronic extension document purportedly issued after December 2021 is invalid and will
not be recognized.

All air and sea visitors, as well as their sponsors, are advised that extensions of stay must be
processed through the standard in-person Visitor’s Extension of Stay procedure. This service
remains available from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday, in New Providence
and the Family Islands.

The in-person extension process remains essential to maintaining border control integrity and
safeguarding national security. It allows Immigration officers to verify the identity and legitimacy
of applicants, assess the validity of the reasons for extended stay, and address any concerns or
irregularities directly.

The Department urges all visitors and sponsors to utilize only the approved legal channels when
seeking to extend a period of stay. The Department of Immigration remains committed to
protecting the integrity of immigration processes and serving the public in a fair, transparent,
and secure manner.
