The Tourism Development Corporation (TDC) is preparing to embark on its second year of partnership with Junior Achievement (JA), reaffirming its commitment to equipping young Bahamians with the
knowledge, skills, and experiences needed to succeed in an increasingly competitive global economy.
As a returning sponsor, TDC will once again sponsor and mentor students over the 20-week JA programme, providing practical exposure to entrepreneurship, financial literacy, work readiness, and the world of business.
Under this year’s theme, “Unlocking Potential,” the orientation served as an opportunity for TDC to gain a deeper understanding of its responsibilities as a JA company while aligning on programme logistics, mentorship expectations, and the overall student experience. JA provided TDC with a programme guide and curriculum designed to support the company’s day-to-day engagement with students, while reinforcing that JA representatives will remain available throughout the programme to provide guidance
and support.
“We are incredibly excited to continue this venture with Junior Achievement for a second year and to also continue investing in the potential of our young people,” said Ashton Cleare, Project Manager at the Tourism Development Corporation. “Our first year showed us just how valuable these experiences can be when students are allowed to learn, lead, create, and engage with professionals in a real-world environment. This year, we want to build on that foundation and make the experience even more
meaningful. We hope that every student who comes through the TDC JA Company leaves with greater confidence, stronger skills, and a clearer understanding of what is possible for their future.”
Junior Achievement emphasized the important role that sponsors, mentors and role models play in shaping the experiences of student achievers. Through their participation, students are encouraged to take ownership of the opportunity and recognize the programme not simply as an extracurricular activity, but as an investment in their future.
On September 19, 2026, prospective student achievers will participate in JA’s and registration process, with TDC conducting interviews to identify students who will become members of its JA Company for the 2026–2027 programme year. The programme will officially begin with the first TDC student company meeting on October 5, 2026, following the student recruitment and orientation process.
Through its continued partnership with Junior Achievement, TDC continues to create opportunities for young Bahamians to unlock their potential, strengthen their skills and prepare to confidently contribute to the future of The Bahamas and the global economy.
