The Bahamas Deepens Tourism Partnership with Mexico Ahead of Landmark Aeroméxico Nonstop Service

Bahamian Media News:

As The Bahamas prepares for the launch of an historic nonstop air link between Mexico City and Nassau in March 2027, the premier travel destination is advancing a comprehensive market engagement strategy to strengthen its tourism presence and distribution network in Mexico.

During a week-long industry outreach programme across Monterrey, Guadalajara and Mexico City, a delegation from The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism (BMOT), led by Executive Director Bridgette King and Raquel Carey, Senior Manager for Latin America and Country Manager for Mexico, conducted a series of high-level meetings with leading travel agencies, wholesalers and tour operators to build awareness and
stimulate demand ahead of the March 19 launch.

The strategy is designed to ensure the Mexican travel trade is fully prepared to promote and sell The Bahamas before the new air service launches. It also aims to deepen industry partnerships, raise awareness of The Bahamas and drive future visitation from one of Latin America’s most important outbound travel markets.

“The introduction of nonstop air service between Mexico City and Nassau represents an important step in expanding The Bahamas’ reach across Latin America,” said Jackson Weech, Director General, BMOT. “By engaging directly with Mexico’s leading travel partners ahead of the inaugural flight, we are ensuring that this new connectivity is supported by compelling experiences that showcase the diversity and distinctive character of our islands. With just three hours between our capitals, this collaboration will make The Bahamas more accessible to Mexican travellers, strengthen tourism and commercial ties between our countries, and position the route for long term success.”

To reinforce its partnership with Aeroméxico ahead of the launch, the Bahamas delegation met with executives at the airline’s Mexico City headquarters, including representatives from sales, marketing, market development and Aeroméxico Vacations. The discussions highlighted significant potential to expand leisure travel between Mexico and The Bahamas, building momentum toward welcoming more Mexican visitors to the islands.

The strategy will continue with an intensive Bahamas Mexico Sales Blitz in November 2026, followed by The Bahamas Mexico Destination Roadshow in January 2027. The multi-city promotional campaign will engage key travel trade partners throughout Mexico, showcase the diversity of experiences available across The Bahamas, and generate excitement and bookings in advance of Aeroméxico’s inaugural flight.

Through its engagement with travel agencies, wholesalers and tour operators, the Bahamian delegation is highlighting the breadth of experiences available throughout The Bahamas. Partners are being equipped with destination knowledge that will enable them to develop travel programmes combining the vibrant luxury of Nassau and Paradise Island, renowned for world class resorts, fine dining and entertainment, with the natural beauty and tranquility of the Out Islands, including the crystal-clear waters of Exuma and the iconic pink sand beaches of Eleuthera and Harbour Island.

Through a series of working sessions, destination representatives are also providing updates on tourism products, air connectivity and commercial support opportunities, equipping partners with the knowledge and resources necessary to develop compelling travel programmes for key travel periods, including Holy Week and the summer holiday season.

This market engagement strategy reaffirms The Bahamas’ commitment to working closely with Mexico’s tourism industry and establishes a strong commercial foundation to support the new nonstop service. It also further positions The Bahamas as a preferred Caribbean destination for Mexican travellers seeking exceptional experiences, convenient access and the unmatched hospitality of the islands.
