The Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation (MOTIA) successfully concluded its First Annual Tourism Symposium, held October 20–21, 2025, at the Margaritaville Beach Resort in Nassau. The two-day event brought together senior leadership, industry stakeholders, and partners for strategic discussions centered on strengthening collaboration, driving innovation, and charting a sustainable future for Bahamian tourism.

Under the theme “Strengthening the Future of Bahamian Tourism Through Innovation and Partnership,” the symposium reinforced the Ministry’s commitment to advancing modernization, improving service excellence, and maintaining The Bahamas’ position as a leading global destination.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments & Aviation, Hon. I. Chester Cooper, highlighted the Ministry’s focus on transformation and inclusive growth. “The Bahamas continues to stand tall as one of the world’s most sought-after destinations, but we cannot be complacent,” said Minister Cooper. “Our focus is on strengthening air and sea connectivity, improving visitor experiences, and empowering Bahamians at every level of the tourism value chain. Through innovation, collaboration, and accountability, we are building a future that keeps The Bahamas at the forefront of global travel.”

Director General Latia Duncombe commended the collective efforts of the Ministry’s teams and
partners in advancing the goals of the sector. “Tourism is the heartbeat of our nation. This
symposium created a valuable space for alignment, for sharing ideas, reinforcing collaboration,
and advancing strategies that drive meaningful outcomes. United in purpose, we remain focused
on ensuring that tourism continues to create opportunities and lasting benefits for the people of
The Bahamas.”

The inaugural Tourism Symposium marks the beginning of a new annual platform designed to
encourage open dialogue, share insights, and foster greater alignment across the industry. By
emphasizing innovation, collaboration, and data-driven strategy, MOTIA continues to build on
its mission to deliver exceptional results and sustainable growth for the people of The Bahamas.
