Tourism Remains Strong During This Slow Period

Bahamian Media News:

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments and Aviation, the Hon. Chester Cooper has assured that tourist arrivals levels will remain strong.  His comments came after President of Baha Mar, Graeme Davis revealed that booking for next year are down.

Cooper told reporters on Thursday, “compared to last year the numbers are still tracking 15% higher than last year, last year was 33% over three pandemic.  So the numbers are already very, very strong and if you think about last year being a record year and this already being 15% over last year not withstanding the slowing we see as a result of the US elections etc., the numbers are still going to end the year extremely strong based on the forecast that we have.”

The Minister said he expects a minimum of 10 million tourist arrivals for 2025.  “We forecasted earlier in the year 12 million, I don’t think that’s an unreasonable number.”

In March the tourism minister reported that a new tourist arrival record was set in 2023 with more than 9 million tourists visiting the country.
