Hebrews 13:16 says: And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. In her remarks at the 9th Annual Fundraiser of the Training Centre for the Disabled, December 5, at Paul Farquharson Centre, Mrs. Ann Marie Davis of the Office of the Spouse of the Prime Minister held to these Biblical words. As patron, she delivered remarks to the theme, ‘Helping Others to Help Themselves. ‘Helping Others to Help Themselves.’ This powerful theme chosen by The Training Centre for the Disabled perfectly captures the essence of tonight’s event and the mission that has guided the Centre for so many years,” she said. “It speaks to empowerment, it speaks to dignity, and it speaks to the belief that every individual deserves the opportunity to learn, to grow, and to live independently.
“As Patron, it is a privilege to join you for this ninth annual fundraiser, an occasion that reminds us how essential community support is to the centre’s work. Your presence here shows that we all indeed care about uplifting those who rely on these life-changing programmes.”
Mrs. Davis explained, “the Training Centre for the Disabled has long embodied the meaning of this theme. By providing life-skills development and a nurturing environment, the centre equips its students with the confidence and practical tools they need to navigate the world with purpose. This is not simply assistance. This is, like I stated before, empowerment in its truest form.”
She declared: “I applaud the dedicated staff, volunteers, and leadership team for the devotion you pour into this mission every single day. To the families who support their loved ones, your role is invaluable and your advocacy makes a tremendous difference.
“And to the students. Let me speak to you from the heart.
You are capable.
You are gifted.
You are important.
You are worthy of every opportunity life has to offer.
“Never underestimate what you can achieve. Every new skill you learn, every challenge you overcome, and every goal you chase are victories that matter. Continue to push yourselves and continue to walk with confidence.
“Tonight, I encourage everyone to give generously. Your contributions ensure that the centre can continue offering its resources and its opportunities.
“Thank you to the organizers for inviting me, thank you to the supporters for your commitment, and thank you to the centre for the great and necessary work you continue to do in our nation.
“Thank you again, and God bless.”
In attendance was the Minister of Social Services, Information and Broadcasting the Hon. Myles LaRoda, who also brought words of upliftment.
