US Visa Application Backlog Reduced

Bahamian Media News:

Acting Embassy Consular Chief at the United States Embassy says the backlog of visa applications has been reduced.

Jessica Elmshaeuser told ZNS News, “previously when we last spoke about this wait time it was around one hundred and twenty days, so we’ve made great progress. And we open up our applications about six months in advance so people are able to get appointments even as soon as May. Right now we’ve just opened up a whole new tranche of appointments.”

Elmshaeuser encouraged applicants to use the interview waiver process saying, “that is probably one of the more efficient ways. So if you’ve previously traveled to the US and you have a valid visa that expired within the last four years we highly encourage you to do that, its about a fifteen day wait time at this point.”
