Former Prime Minister and Member of Parliament for Killarney, the Most Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis fielded questions from reporters about whether he will run as an independent in the next general election outside of the East Street Tabernacle on Wednesday.

Dr. Minnis said, “the only thing I’m saying is I am running. The FNM (Free National Movement) has already made a statement. The FNM has said that I am not their candidate. I said I am running. I don’t think you need anything other than that at this particular point in time. But I am running and I have no doubt that, I have faith and confidence that the people of Killarney will return me as the member of parliament for Killarney.”

The former Prime Minister also commented on the possibility of a boundary change in his constituency. He said, “I know that they will make shifts. My constituency has a large number and it had to be done and I’m certain that it will be done. But in spite of that I will be there and Killarney will support me.”
