Baha Mar Senior Vice President of Government and External Affairs Robert Sands reveals expansion plans for the resort on Monday.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held in February for the resort’s new hotel offering. Sands spoke with reporters about the project. He said, “part of Baha Mar’s ongoing commitment is that we agree that we should refresh our properties on an ongoing basis.”

Sands said in addition to working on the new property next year capital injections will continue. He said, “I think we are very encouraged by our business levels this year. Fortunately for us, some geopolitical issues have helped us. Certainly we have seen a large increase in our Canadian business. We’ve also seen groups and convention business coming back strong. We’ve also seen the introduction of our sport related events, our culinary events. So all of that has been very positive for us. We have not been impacted this year by any weather related instances. We’re gonna keep our fingers crossed and we’re looking forward to end this year on a very positive note and then we also looking to a stronger year in 2027.”

Baha Mar’s fourth hotel will be located on the site of the old Melia Resort. When completed the project will have 345 hotel rooms and 77 luxury residences.
