The Minister of Agriculture, Marine Resources and Family Island Affairs officially opened the Egg Academy at the Bahamas Agriculture and Marine Science Institute (BAMSI) on Monday.

At the opening ceremony, the Hon. Sweeting further stated, “this Egg Academy prepares us for the future. We know this is just one of the many programs that BAMSI will continue to develop to enhance food security in our country.”

Also on hand were Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Marine Resources and Family Island Affairs and Member of Parliament of North Andros and the Berry Islands, the Hon Leonardo Lightbourne and Executive Chairman of BAMSI, Sen. Hon. Tyrel Young.

The program aims to produce more than one million eggs per year with approximately 3,600 birds.
