The Bahamas is celebrating regional recognition after acclaimed filmmaker Latrell Lewis-King captured the Film ICON Award at the 2026 Caribbean POSH ICON Woman Awards, held during Caribbean POSH’s landmark 10th anniversary celebration in the British Virgin Islands.
Lewis-King was among 15 winners representing seven Caribbean territories, recognized for their exceptional leadership, innovation, and impact across industries including business, education, tourism, entrepreneurship, media, culture, and the creative arts.
Her recognition celebrates her outstanding contribution to Caribbean filmmaking and storytelling, helping to amplify authentic Caribbean voices while showcasing the region’s rich culture, talent, and creativity on local, regional, and international platforms.
“The Caribbean is filled with extraordinary storytellers, and film has the power to preserve our history, celebrate our identity, and shape how the world sees us,” said Janette Brin, Founder & CEO of Caribbean POSH.
“Latrell Lewis-King is using her creativity and vision to tell stories that matter. Through her work, she is helping to elevate Caribbean culture while inspiring the next generation of filmmakers and creatives. We are proud to recognize her contribution with the Film ICON Award.”
Held under the theme “The Future of the Caribbean: Connection, Collaboration & Growth,” the 10th Annual Caribbean POSH Weekend brought together entrepreneurs, government officials, tourism leaders, creatives, and changemakers from across the Caribbean and diaspora for several days of leadership conversations, networking, cultural experiences, and celebration.
Now celebrating its tenth anniversary, the Caribbean POSH ICON Woman Awards have become one of the Caribbean’s leading platforms dedicated to recognizing women whose work is making a meaningful impact across business, leadership, education, tourism, entrepreneurship, health, community development, media, and the creative industries.
Brin noted that recognizing creatives remains an important part of Caribbean POSH’s mission.
“The creative industries are among the Caribbean’s greatest assets. Women like Latrell are not only entertaining audiences—they are preserving our culture, changing perceptions, and ensuring Caribbean stories continue to be told with authenticity and excellence.”
As Caribbean POSH enters its second decade, the organization remains committed to celebrating, connecting, and elevating Caribbean women while providing greater visibility for the leaders, innovators, and creatives shaping the future of the region.
