Independence Family Fun Day & Concert July 10

Bahamian Media News:

As The Bahamas celebrates its 53rd Anniversary of Independence, residents and visitors alike are invited to a free day of family entertainment at Clifford Park on Friday, July 10, 2026.

The event forms part of the national Independence celebrations and promises an afternoon and evening of culture, music, food and family-friendly activities.

The national festivities began on February 24, the official 242 day, then National Pride Day, July 3. Bahamians proudly wore the national colours of black, aquamarine and gold in a display of patriotism and national unity.

Celebrations continue on Thursday, July 9 at 7:30, with the National Ecumenical Service and Cultural Show at Clifford Park, bringing Bahamians together for worship, reflection and cultural performances. It is the day that Bahamians gather to bring in Independence Day – a tradition that began in 1973.

On Friday, July 10, Independence Day begins with the People’s Rush along Bay Street at 1am, where the vibrant sounds and colours of Junkanoo will once again set the tone for the nation’s birthday celebrations.

Activities then shift to Clifford Park, where the Family Fun Day begins at 5pm. Admission is free, and organisers are encouraging families from across the country to come out and celebrate together.

Patrons will have an opportunity to enjoy authentic Bahamian cuisine, browse locally made crafts and support a variety of local vendors while children and adults enjoy an afternoon of entertainment.

Concert attendees will be welcomed from 5:30 p.m. ahead of the Independence Concert, which begins at 6 p.m. The concert will showcase some of the country’s best-known entertainers, including Sweet Emily, Funky D, Ancient Man, The Pond Band, Black Swan Band, Simeon Outten, TonAsh, Stevie S, Synergy Band, Jammin’ Rahming and Wilfred Solomon, along with several other Bahamian performers.

The Independence celebrations conclude on Sunday, July 12, which has been designated Independence Sunday. Churches throughout the country will observe the occasion with services of thanksgiving, prayer and reflection as Bahamians celebrate the nation’s achievements while looking ahead to the future.

Organisers are encouraging everyone to wear the national colours with pride, fly the Bahamian flag, support local vendors and join thousands of fellow Bahamians in celebrating the country’s 53rd Independence Anniversary.

Admission to the Family Fun Day and Grand Independence Concert is free. For more information, visit Celebrate Bahamas on Facebook or go to www.celebrate-Bahamas.com.
