Press Release

As part of the celebration of Global Community Day 2026, Citi mobilized employees, family members, and community partners to participate in various volunteer initiatives aimed at creating a positive and sustainable impact in the communities where the institution operates.

In The Bahamas, Citi volunteers partnered with Hands for Hunger Bahamas, a local non-profit dedicated to eliminating hunger and reducing food waste. The volunteer activities involved providing high-priority items to the organization, helping to replenish and restock its food pantry. Additionally, the Citi team assisted Hands for Hunger to support their food rescue and distribution efforts.

For more than two decades, Global Community Day has reflected Citi’s commitment to the communities where we operate. In The Bahamas, we are proud to join forces with local organizations and volunteers to support initiatives that create opportunities, strengthen the social fabric, and contribute to the sustainable development of our country,” saidJohn A Lopez, Citi Country Officer, The Bahamas.

Global Community Day is Citi’s annual tradition that brings together employees, alumni, family members, and friends around the world for a day of volunteer service that strengthens the bonds between people and the communities they serve.

In 2026, Citi celebrates the 21st anniversary of this global initiative, a tradition that began in 2006 with the goal of channeling the commitment and dedication of its employees through a worldwide day of service. Since its inception, volunteerism has strengthened Citi’s culture of service and helped build stronger relationships with communities and among its teams.

Throughout its more than 200-year history, Citi has maintained a strong commitment to the communities where it operates. Global Community Day is an expression of that legacy and an opportunity to recognize the efforts of volunteers, community leaders, and partner organizations who make it possible to create a positive and lasting impact.

Meaningful impact is achieved when we work together to address the needs of our communities. Global Community Day represents an opportunity for our employees and partners to collaborate in support of causes that promote education, well-being, and community development, reaffirming our commitment to The Bahamas,” Lopez added.
